Youth Mentoring

WHO OUR YOUTH MENTORING IS FOR

Our youth mentoring services support young people aged 10-18, or up to the age of 25 for those with learning disabilities, who may be:

      • Experiencing difficulties in education or attendance

      • At risk of exclusion, exploitation or disengagement

      • In contact with youth justice, police or social care services

      • Experiencing emotional, behavioural or social challenges

      • Lacking stable, positive adult relationships

      • Navigating complex family, community or life circumstances

Each youth mentoring referral is assessed individually to ensure mentoring is appropriate, safe and supportive.

oUR YOUTH MENTORING APPROACH

Our trauma-informed youth mentoring approach is:

      • Safeguarding-led – clear boundaries, risk management and accountability

      • Relationship-based  – trust, consistency and mutual respect

      • Youth-centred – shaped around the young person’s needs, voice and goals

      • Strengths-focused  – recognising potential, not deficits

All 1-1 youth mentoring sessions are structured, purposeful and delivered in line with safeguarding best practice. 

How our youth mentoring supports positive change

Our youth mentoring services support young people to:

      • Build confidence, self-esteem an emotional regulation

      • Improve engagement with education, training or statutory services

      • Develop communication and decision-making skills

      • Navigate risk, peer pressure and challenging relationships

      • Explore aspirations, identity and positive pathways 

Youth mentoring is not a replacement for statutory services or therapy, but works alongside existing support where approporiate.

Youth Mentoring Referral Pathways

Professional Referrals

We accept youth mentoring referrals from professions including:

      • Schools, colleges, and alternative provision

      • Police and youth justice services

      • Social services and children’s services

      • Foster agencies and residential care providers

      • Youth services and community organisations

Parent & carer referrals

Parents and carers may refer their young person for mentoring. Please be aware that:

      • These referrals are self-funded 

      • We offer an initial suitability conversation to discuss the young persons needs and pricing

      • Safeguarding and risk assessments are completed before mentoring begins 

      • Support will only proceed where it is appropriate and in the young person’s best interests

HOW TO REFER A YOUNG PERSON

Once you have completed the checklist, reviewed our terms of reference, and feel a young person would benefit from 1-1 youth mentoring, please complete our referral form listed below and email it to info@forwardever.business

Once received, a member of our team will review the referral form and contact you to discuss the next steps.
